Blog Marketing: Is it needed?

I visit many blogs on a daily basis and really thrive on learning more and more each day. Some of these blogs are massive and contain high volumes of traffic. I have sometimes thought, “If only I could create a popular blog that people keep coming back to.” You want to satisfy your readers with content they want to hear. Below I have mentioned a couple starting blocks into getting your blog noticed!

Be specific in the audience you are targeting. Are you targeting web developers, farmers, big corporations, or the average Joe? This is where all your blog content should be focused around. The key to a great blog is content that draws people’s attention.

Now that you have a couple specific, related posts, you need to expose it to the web. Just like if you created a website and you want Google to recognize it. One way to do this is to share your posts on popular social networking sites. A few I use regularly is Reddit.com, DZone.com, Delicious.com etc… This can get some visitors to your site, and get a reaction from readers on what they like and what they don’t like.

On top of providing useful information to your readers, you get the added benefit of added traffic and a lot of pages for Google to index. Google loves new great content, and what better way than to voice your opinions through a blog.

I hope this encourages all you people with small blogs out there to keep at it, and maybe one day you will be as big as some of the blogging giants out there!
