OH MY! Here comes Windows 7…

Windows 7 public beta has been released. I suggest that you read this article and click the download links to preview it.

Windows 7 is Microsoft’s latest try to make the “perfect” operating system. It is said to be better than Vista, and we would hope so. A couple new features it will have are:

  • touch and multi-touch integration
  • OSX-like dock (who knows how LIKE it will be)
  • redesigned windows shell
  • internet explorer 8

I know a lot of you will cringe at the site of that last point. When Windows 7 becomes the standard OS we will have yet another version of IE to test our browsers in, and let’s hope it’s the most standards-compliant yet.

What do you think of IE 8 and Windows 7? Let me know.

Whilst IE8 offers some nice new features, it has to be the most un-finished part of Windows 7.

I’ve experienced crashes, usually multiple-times a day. It breaks a lot of websites, and although compatibility mode almost always fixes that, it’s still really annoying.

It may be beta 2, but let’s hope IE8 gets many more fixes before Win 7 ships.
